This gallery houses my oil paintings and drawings that I did at the Art Students League of New York a long time ago. I studied oil with Peter Cox, Harvey Dinnerstein, Mary Beth McKenzie and Ron Sherr, and figure drawing with Peter Cox, Michael Burbun and Anthony Palumbo. I also took a watercolor class taught by Irwin Greenberg which started my watercolor journey. Some of the instructors mentioned above are no longer living in the physical word but their great teachings live forever in everything I do today and I'm forever grateful.
Also included here are the drawings that I did at the Arts Society of Kingston and the Lace Mill after I moved upstate New York.
I no longer use oil but I don't want to forget about it because my watercolor works that are in Gallery 1 would never have been in existence without it. Oil painting and figure drawing taught me the core principles of art making and helped me develop the solid skills I needed to go beyond the academic practices. These works in this gallery are the ancestors of all that I do today and I'm forever indebted to them.
This gallery brings back a lot of memories to me, and makes me realize how much it means to me to have studied at the ASL, it made me the artist that I wanted to become.
