I was born in Japan and moved to New York City in 1992 to study at the Art Students League. I'm also a personal trainer specializing in functional training. For me, art and fitness are the same tree of self development, self empowerment, it's about increasing of personal power. Art makes me a better trainer and fitness makes me a better artist.
Cats are my endless inspiration and obsession for me. They definitely raise my oxytocin level, and it goes so much deeper. They are like another solar system that travels along with mine in such perfect sync that we help each other grow and live the best life together. All my cats came into my life unexpectedly, and the ones who left this world are forever memorialized in my work.
Not many artists are in the fitness arena and not many trainers are artists either. From this unusual juncture I can mix in completely diffident point of view and experiences into fitness so that it's no longer another thing on the to-do list to cross off, it's a lifestyle of forever increasing the personal power both physically and mentally.
Painting enables me to go deeper into my innermost landscapes of unlimited possibilities, my truth, my primary residence without mailing address.
When fiction, art and humor joined forces, a picture book for adults emerged as a new breed of self improvement book.
The book is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Balboa Press.
